KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - The families of 10 Canadians killed in
Afghanistan paid tribute Sunday to their loved ones in what could be the last ceremony of its kind before combat operations end in the war-torn country,
CTV News said today.
Among those present was the father of
Captain Nichola Goddard who was the first Canadian female soldier to be killed in action, and the brother of
Sergeant George Miok who was killed by improvised explosive device in 2009.
Since Canada's mission began in 2002, 154 military personnel, two aid workers, a journalist and a diplomat have died in Afghanistan.
